Referral Hiring is the best way to get Hired these days!

I like to use the term "referral hiring" as an objective for my clients in their job search.  The ultimate goal is to get hired by a REFERRAL inside a target company through the act of building relationships and widening your network.  Why is a referral hire so important?

**Referral hires have the greatest ROI (return on investment) 
**Referral hires have lower turnover.  Typical turnover after 2 years is 45%, referral hires only 20%.  You are more committed to stay at a company when your friend recruited you there! 
**The cost of a referral hire is much lower than using an outside recruiting firm.  As a former tech recruiter it's obvious.  The fee paid to a recruiter is typically 20-25% of base salary.  Compare that to $3K-5K paid for a referral hiring fee.  I think companies should pay a MINIMUM of $4-5K to attract good talent from the talent pool they already have.  
**You will have more success as a candidate if you apply this strategy vs lobbing resumes over the company website.  Candidates should focus on a more targeted approach to identify key companies and use LinkedIn and good old fashioned "picking up the phone" to approach the influencers at target companies.  

This strategy takes time and effort but is QUALITY over QUANTITY and it will net greater results!
